“Everything easy is hard again”
This is the first issue I publish here on the website. This issue was never sent to anybody by email, it was read live on our Meetup instead.
I have added some nice content I found during May and this is how the issue might have looked if this website and newsletter was live by the time.
We have of course GDPR as the star of this month, but also Gutenberg, amazing news about Magento and a really nice read for the weekend too.
GDPR is here!! Are you ready?
Well, I am sure this is not something new for your, we have been talking about this for a long time know, and I can bet you have received at least 10 or 20 emails asking you to confirm your data. I have created myself a “not that small” guide for small businesses that should help you to understand better what do you “actually” need to do to complain with the GDPR law. At the end of that post there are also several nice links with extra information. I think you will find it useful. GDPR

New WordPress version 4.9.6
The new version of WordPress, 4.9.6 is centered mainly on GDPR. It adds some nice features like exporting and deleting personal data and a guide to create a PrivacyPolicy page. There is still work to do but they have done a great work with that. You can read the whole changes on the link. WordPress Updates

PHP 5.6 Support is ending soon!
PHP 5.6 support is ending by the end of 2018. So if you are not using yet PHP7.X, you should start working on that as soon as possible. We do not want to do the same thing we did with GDPR on this. Hosting

How much time do you spend updating your WordPress?
Sure that not enough, because it is not your job to do that. You have better things to do for your businesses, but a website needs to be updated and supported. So you could try WPHercules: a maintenance service for WordPress businesses. Service WordPress

Adobe acquires Magento
Impresive news for the Ecommerce World. Magento, one of the top open source solutions for ecommerce, has been bought by Adobe. We know that Adobe is not a great friend of Open Source so this could be a huge impact on its ecosystem. Nobody knows what is going to happen so far, so we can just wait and be alert. The link on top goes to the techcrunch news, and this one is the magento blog and the adobe website. News

1/ I don’t trust hockey stick curves. Not on their own, anyway – which is often how they are presented in tweeted out infographics, demo days, etc. Hockey sticks can be gamed. They can show low-quality growth. And you need the right tools to figure out if they’ll sustain.
